(2000)
I can still remember when I first heard this album. I must have been
around 12 years old or something like that and I loved it! It was so
different. Obviously back then I had no idea how political this Irish
band was but who cares! When I bought it, I played it with my mum in the
same room and she said: “There’s no need to swear that much!”. So I
guess I could advise that if you’re not a fan of harsh lyrics then don’t
even bother with this one.
This band merges rap with heavy guitar riffs. I’m a fan of certain types
of rap, just minus all the ‘gangster’ crap that comes with it. So to
hear rock with rapping kind of excited me a bit.
This album definitely takes a few listens to fully get into it, but I’m
sure after that you’ll be searching back and repeating certain parts of
songs that you really like.
There are some songs on the album that kind of let the rest of the album
down, which is why I’ve only given this album a rating of 4 out of 5.
Despite that, it’s definitely worth listening to if you fancy something
a bit different.
It’s a shame this band are no longer around (they split in 2004),
however, I reckon it was probably for the best because there is
obviously a limit to the number of political debates they can moan
about!
