Razorlight
Razorlight
(2006)
Razorlight's second album has been hailed in other reviews as "...the
best guitar album since Definitely Maybe...", but for me this
album cannot be compared because this really isn't a true 'guitar'
album, especially when compared to DM. But I'm not saying this
isn't a great album, this is a really good follow up to their debut
album 'Up All Night' and to me shows a new direction for the band. The
songs that this album offers are all really solid, punchy lyrics and
catchy riffs, bring together all the quality that the band has to offer.
Stand out tracks would be the first single 'In The Morning' which
continues on from Up all Night with the upbeat guitar driven
songs more comparable to the likes of 'Stumble and Fall' from their
debut. 'Who Needs Love?' is a predominantly piano based track and shows
the first signs of the different direction they're going in. 'America'
stands out as the potential 'big' single for the band to release, with
it being the slow and thoughtful song that will more than likely appeal
to the mass audiences. The album also features a reworked version of
'Kirby's House' which is even more poppy than its original version that
features on the latest Help: A Day in the Life album.
Overall this is a really great second album from Razorlight, and its
going to be a sure hit with fans of the band, and also appealing to new
listeners.
