The Strokes
First Impressions Of Earth (2006)

The third album from New York rockers 'First Impressions Of Earth' kicks off with the sort of style that you can relate to straight away if you're a fan of their music. I personally love the first track 'You Only Live Once', it's a really catchy song that makes me just want to jump around to it. On first listen the palm muting start could have you fooled into thinking you're listening to Sum 41, but that worry soon disappears once the main guitars kick in and you feel safe within the usual sounds of The Strokes.

Track 2 brings you the first single from the album 'Juicebox'. On first listen of the single I couldn't really relate to it being what The Strokes usually do, it seemed to hard for it to be them, but after a few listens you really get into it and just know that this is a quality Strokes song. Other songs on the album continue with that familiar sound of The Strokes, and it doesn't disappoint at all. Julian Casablancas' vocals are really impressive throughout the album, and in my opinion probably at there best now than they ever have been.

The one song on the album that sounds slightly different from what you'd usually expect from them is track 8 'Electricityscape'. To me I get a slight feeling of Muse from it, but not enough to make me feel that it doesn't fit the album. Overall this album has impressed me, especially as I am a fan of the 2 previous albums. It's definitely an album that I recommend.
