Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Show Your Bones (2006)

When it comes to female vocalists, Karen O is up there with the best at this moment in time, her voice is a trademark to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs sound. But as good as her vocals are, this album (their follow up to the 2003 debut Fever To Tell) still lacks that extra bit of edge. I think that not having a bass player may still be a slight problem on them creating an overall higher quality album.

Don't get me wrong, this is a really solid album but it just seems to lack that edge to take it to the next level. Songs like 'Phenomena' and 'Turn Into' are really quality, but even these could take that next step to become truly great.

As far as the current indie/alt rock trend is going, it can safely be said that Show Your Bones keeps them out of the commercial limelight which will keep the larger market of fans happy, though the next step could possibly move them closer to having a more commercial sound. Nevertheless, a sound album from the band, and fans of them are likely to be more than pleased with it.
