McFly
Nottingham Arena, Nottingham (05.10.06)

Back in Oz in 2005, I heard that McFly were days away from releasing tickets for their 2006 tour back in the UK. Now, having a 9 hour time difference and being 12,000 miles away I figured it would be impossible to get tickets ... I'm so glad I was wrong!

So, McFly were back with a sold out tour. "Motion in the Ocean" (the name of their recently released third album) was the third tour for the guys ... and without a doubt, it was the best ! Nottingham Ice Arena was packed out with fans ! The show started with a couple of supporting groups who are not yet very well established in the UK. The first were four girls from somewhere ... whose names I cannot remember ... oops. They weren't brilliant anyway. The next were an all male group from Boston USA called "Click Five", who reminded me slightly of Busted. These guys were good! You'll be seeing them around very soon.

McFly entered the stage in a very energetic manner, as always. As the crowd erupted (mainly girls between the ages of 8 to about 30 were heard screaming!) McFly went straight into their first song :) They played all of the hits including "5 Colours In Her Hair", "Room On The Third Floor" and "It's All About You". My favourite of the night however, was Danny's "Not Alone", see the video attached to this review, it is short, but brilliant. They also did tracks from their new album (also reviewed on this site!) including "We're The Young", "Sorry's Not Good Enough" and the brilliant "Star Girl". They also did a cover of the "Ghostbusters" tune, which was very very very good!

The guys actually ran behind schedule due to the amount of talking they did (mainly Tom and Danny, Dougie was as quiet as ever and Harry seemed in a bad mood which sucked as he's my favourite!). The boys also did a bit of a drum performance which was amazing. Harry's set came out above the audience whilst the other guys were on stage dressed in white hoodies, under ultraviolet lights playing their own "drums", which I think were actually barrels! Still, it sounded amazing and really went well with the rest of the show.

The guys went the full length of the concert without a break, almost two whole hours, and their energy levels were not once dampened. The set was amazing, with a beach hut, lots of screens and colour and an amazing amount of pyrotechnics!

I have no hesitation in recommending these guys at all. This was the third time I had seen the guys perform and they did not disappoint.

WELL DONE guys, I cant wait until the next one
