Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Howl Sessions EP (2006)

The 'Howl Sessions' EP from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is a collection of tracks that never made it onto the 'Howl' LP. Now I find it hard to believe that they've not saved these tracks up for a new album because they really do have the quality to make it onto whatever they bring next. It's a shame that this EP never got a full release and make it to this part of the world, with it only available through the internet in most cases for people in this country, BRMC fans over here are missing out if they've not heard these 6 tracks that are on offer.

The stand out track has to be 'Pretend', the way that the song has been produced is excellent, the overlapping of Peter Hayes and Robert Been's vocals just sounds amazing, completely drum-less with only soft electric tones and gentle slide guitar, this is song making that just can't be ignored - it's near perfection. With that track aside though, tracks like 'Grind My Bones' and 'Mercy' would fit perfectly on 'Howl', lots of slide guitar and great vocals from the two main vocalists.

I think that if you're a BRMC fan and you haven't had a chance to get hold of this EP then I would say that it's definitely worth getting hold of anyway you can, I am certain that you will not be dissatisfied with it. I honestly can't fault a single track out of the 6 that are on offer, they are all of excellent quality and can be listened to over and over again without getting old. In its own right this is a classic collection of songs that never made an album, its quite unbelievable yet superb either way.
